Mauritius

Mauritius is a small, multi-cultural island off the coast of Madagascar, northeast of Reunion, and southeast of Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. Rodrigues Island and the isolated, thinly populated Agalega and Cargados Garayos (Saint Brandon) islands are also under Mauritius’ jurisdiction. Warm, dry winter (May to November); hot, wet, humid summer (influenced by southeast trade breezes). Grand Bay, a shopping and recreational paradise are also where Mauritanians flock for a fun-filled night out. The magnificent Pereybere public beach, which was named the World’s Most Beautiful Beach in 2010, is well-known for its shopping, restaurants, and bars. Triolet, the island’s longest village, is home to the island’s largest Hindu temple, the Maheswarnath, which was built in 1819 in honor of the gods Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Muruga, Brahma, and Ganesha. Don’t be afraid to visit one of the city’s many local restaurants.  Mauritius is a sensory delight, not just for the eyes with its stunning scenery, but also for the taste buds.
