In the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a huge collection of over 600 islands. Despite being nominally part of India, they are closer to Myanmar and Thailand than to the Indian mainland. They’re included alongside the rest of India in this section. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are one of the world’s most isolated locations, located 1400 kilometers from mainland India and 1000 kilometers from Thailand. Passenger boats are the sole route to go between the islands, with an expensive aircraft service to Havelock Island. There’s also the Infiniti Liveaboard, which travels to places like Cinque, Barren, Narcondam, and other islands. The beaches and scuba diving, particularly on Havelock Island and Neil Island, attract the majority of visitors. Port Blair is the only location worth visiting for historical reasons. Neil Island is a very lovely island with lush green trees and pristine white sand beaches. Tourism is still relatively new in the Andamans and as such the traveler has a special responsibility in guiding its development.
